Special Interest : Relationship/couples counselling/understanding and managing anxiety and
depression/personal growth through life transitions/self esteem work/trauma
counselling/working through bereavement

We all find ourselves embedded within a complex web of important
relationships. Current times are characterized by emotional strain and
relationship conflicts. Empowering people to find more constructive ways to
understand and engage in their relationships, with their characteristic
complexities and ambiguities, working through life transitions and
adjustments and personal growth work are the main themes of my work.

Issues reverberate throughout our life span. Different
life stages present new challenges or call for us to deal with issues that we may have faced before, on deeper levels.

Renewing the way one looks at life, creating mental disciplines and
behavioural changes, improves self esteem and relationship connections.
My overall focus is on providing an empathetic space within which to help
people understand themselves and their circumstances on deeper levels, and to deal more effectively with their life challenges.

My background training was in ecosystemic thinking, family and narrative
therapy. As we all know though life’s best teacher is experience. Over many
years now through personal life experience and professional exposure to
various ideas and approaches, I have integrated all that I have learned and
essentially developed and continue to evolve an eclectic style of
psychotherapy where my clients needs are paramount.

I am particularly interested in making sense of misfortune, enabling clients to use these challenges to grow and build resilience rather than be broken by them.

I am also interested in self-growth and helping clients to identify the ways in which thoughts, behaviours and beliefs might be preventing them from achieving their goals or relating to others as they would like to.

072 778 1959
Special Interest : I am interested in offering people a warm, honest and supportive professional relationship that helps them to identify, understand and effectively deal with areas where they feel stuck in their lives.

By "stuck" I mean that you may feel held back or stopped from living your life to the fullest of your potential by any of the following:

*Unhelpful thoughts, emotions and behaviour that keep happening over and over and that you struggle to understand and cope with.

*Traumatic events and memories from your past (including abuse as a child).

*Feeling overwhelmed by life and struggling to cope with it.

*Not feeling able to cope with changes in your life

*Struggling or dissatisfied with relationships in your life

*Feeling depressed, down and lacking energy needed to live your life

*Feeling that your life lacks meaning and purpose

In the short term, I aim to help you to cope and get your life back on track again. Should you decide to work with me over a longer time, we will work together to gain a deeper understanding of where your difficulties come from and how they play out in your life. Most importantly, we will aim to unlock the potential for you to live your life more fully that has been blocked by the difficulties you have been experiencing.

Special Interest : Emotional difficulties can often be overwhelming and one can easily get to a point of despair. I have experienced both personally (on the patient side of the couch) as well as professionally the incredibly powerful tool psychotherapy can be in transforming people’s lives. I view being a psychologist as a calling and am passionate about the profession and the transformative and healing power of therapy.

My path to becoming a clinical psychologist started out in psychological research after completing a Masters in Research Psychology. I soon however realised that my passion lay with working with people, particularly through the healing relationship that is the psychotherapeutic relationship.

I consider myself to be a generalist but have special interest in working with adults, adolescents and couples, as well as with issues related to maternal mental health.

021-422 0668
0824990233
Special Interest : My area of practice includes all clinical and counselling work relating to individual adult psychotherapy and trauma intervention. I have a special interest in the difficulties individuals experience within their relationships [Couple and Family Therapy] - whether between intimate partners, parents and children, siblings or friends.

I believe that therapy is at its core a dialogue between the therapist and client(s). The origins of the word dialogue can be extracted from the Greek "dia" and "logos" which literal translation means “through meaning." Thus, the therapeutic process represents a dialogue during which one does not necessarily try to convince the other of their points of view, but rather create a learning-collaboration through which understanding and insight is sought. As such, dialogue is about creating a fuller picture of reality rather than breaking it down into fragments or parts. Accordingly, the ethos of dialogue represents an intergraded worldview in order to assist clients in reaching their full potential.

Scope of practice – Psychotherapy/ Counselling
I provide assistance in the management and resolution of the following concerns:
