SPACE NOW AVAILABLE IN AN ONGOING THERAPY
GROUP

Space is now available in a productive, on-going,
open-ended adult psychotherapy group that I
conduct in Kenilworth Cape Town, on Mondays
between 17:30 -19:00. I have been running groups
for several years and am a certified group
psychotherapist (American Group Psychotherapy
Association) as well as a clinical psychologist.

Although the group is usually closed I accept new
members as previous members graduate or leave.
This is a psychotherapy group rather than a support
group of limited sessions and focused content. The
group aims to provide a space in which the members
can develop trust, share honest feedback, come to
see themselves more clearly and work at growing in
constructive ways.

This may appeal to people who have some
experience of therapy, wellness counselling or life
coaching, and who wish to continue their journey of
growth and self-discovery. Appropriate referrals
include individuals wanting to pursue personal growth
goals or experiencing mild to moderate depression
and anxiety.

Some appropriate aims to work towards in this group
include...

o     Wanting to feel more at ease with yourself and
others
o     Wanting to discover how others see you and
experience life
o     Wishing to work through difficult experiences
o     Wanting to grow emotionally through the helpful
feedback of others
o     Work on establishing more effective ways of
relating
o     Deepen your understanding of yourself and
others
o     Connecting with others in a truly open and
honest way

I meet individually with each applicant to mutually
assess whether this group would meet their needs
and to prepare them for the experience. I do not
charge for the first individual meeting but a fee will
apply for meetings thereafter.

Applicants should be reasonably successful in life,
psychologically minded and stable enough to
contribute to, and to attend the group in a sustained
and committed way. This group aims to accomplish
deep work and hence requires a long term
commitment.

This group is not suitable for people with psychotic,
active addictive, severe depressive and personality
disorders.

Cost-effectiveness is an obvious benefit of group
psychotherapy however this is not the only benefit.
Group psychotherapy provides an opportunity for
members to form mutually therapeutic relationships
that allow a direct exploration of their perceptions
and interactions while providing opportunities to gain
through witnessing and working with others in the
group.

This is a private, fee-paying, medical aid deductible
service (R210.00 per session).
