What stirs a person to become a pcycologist OR what events in life can contribute to become one.I had gone through family trauma and would like to help others to cope or survive.I feel GOD is telling me to go into this direction to  help restore family relationships.How do one kwows it is the right direction to study.

Well the question is why do you do anything?Why be a lawyer or an accountant, etc. I know this sounds cliched and corny but you have to follow your heart. There is nothing as bad as being stuck in a job that you hate.

This is just my lay person's view. Maybe you could find a few psychologists on the website and write them an email. Ask them questions. I dont think you will be able to join them in practice but I am sure their input will be useful.

I have an enquiring mind and love human behaviour.  I want to know why people behave the way they do, what motivates them, what is the biological reason for behaviour.  Why do paedophiles abuse children?  What makes people schitzophrenic?  How does medication help?  I love watching people interact and see how they respond to each other.

I also love helping people...
